My Experience With a Brussel Sprout Tree

Sooo, today while I was grocery shopping in the produce section of my local supermarket, I stumbled upon a wee little bag of brussel sprouts. I immediately coveted these little green sprouts. I think I even had a quick little day dream of pan roasting the sprouts with onion, bacon and olive oil!! Then my dream was stopped in it’s tracks when I realized the measley bag of sprouts, that would leave Nick and I unfullfilled and wanting more, was $2.59. Now as far as vegetables go and I’m concerned, I can find much more veggie for much less dough. That was when I continued browsing down the greenery aisle and set my sights on the bad boy below!!! It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Was it a tree? stalk? stem? branch? Whatever it may be called, it was covered in TON of little and big Brussel Sprouts. And even better than that, this whole tree trunk of sprouts was only $3.70! I felt like this was a total steal seeing as there must of been atleast double of what was in the little stack of sprouts. So, I took my stalk home and started researching. I started by slicing all the sprouts away from the stalk. After doing so I only then realized that I probably had four times the amount of sprouts from the little bag! It was like winning the Brussel sprout lotto! I set one serving size aside in the fridge for tomorrow nights dinner and then continued to prep the other sprouts for freezing. I found on the Internet that all I needed to do before freezing was to blanch the bad boys for 3-5 minutes and then submerse into a cold water bath, let dry, and freeze till ready to use! I will be sure to report back on how they taste. But for now, I am just happy to be rolling in so many sprouts.
